Admitting this isn’t easy, but here goes.
Street purchases aren’t my thing although I am budget-wise consumer. So, when the new iPhone came up, it become my wanted list.
That’s when it happened.
Over the weekday, a street deal too good to be true caught my attention.
A stranger was selling iPhone at a steal. He was persuasive, even offering a bigger discount for a quick deal for RM1000.
We met, and I inspected the iPhone. But, foolishly, I didn’t test it.
At home, the truth hit me – it was a fake, a sophisticated knock-off.
This experience wasn’t just about losing money; it taught me three key lessons:
1. The rise of convincing fakes
Today’s fakes can be incredibly realistic, making it hard to distinguish them from the real thing.
2. Anyone can be scammed:
No matter how savvy you think you are, anyone can fall for a scam. Always be cautious, especially if a deal seems too good to be true.
3. Accepting life’s challenges:
Scams are a harsh reality. It’s important to learn and move on. This wasn’t just a hashtag#scam; it was a life lesson.
