Work emails are important.
One common reply is “noted with thanks.” But, I don’t like this reply. Why?
For one, it’s very short.
If someone like me spent a lot of time writing an email, “noted with thanks” might feel too quick and uncaring.
Also, it mean nothing to me. It just feels like you’ve seen the email but haven’t really taken the time to understand its content.
The Solution?
Personalize it a bit! Even in a busy work setting, adding a short line related to the email’s content can make a big difference.
So, instead of replying with just “noted,” we could say, “Noted, Mr Koh. The audit query almost complete. Let’s discuss it in our meeting next Monday.”
