As an accountant, I understand why many shy away from sales. However, I see business development as a critical skill in today’s crowded market.
Did you know there are over 2,000 audit firms registered under Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA)? That’s not even counting unapproved accounting firms registered with SSM.
In the past, I believed that “work speaks for itself,” but is that still relevant now?
The evolving accounting industry values those who not only excel academically but can also market themselves, network effectively, and expand their business reach.
I stress the importance of early adoption of business development skills for my managers to ensure resilience and success.
Let’s embrace sales as a necessary skill in today’s competitive landscape.
PS : Quality of work is essential, it’s equally important to go beyond in current business environment.
