At the age of 43, I decided to make a big change in my life. After smoking for 20 years and not being very active, I started running in 2013.
Completing a half marathon with my best time of 2 hours and 1 minute was a big deal for me in 2013, but soon after, I got injured.
This injury kept me from running for over six months, and I even missed three full marathons.
But I didn’t give up.
In 2014, I completed my first ultra-marathon during the three-day Sabah Adventure Challenge.
The next year, I pushed myself even further and completed my first 50km and then a 100km race at the TMBT in Sabah in 2014 and 2015.
My biggest challenge came when I did the 250km DeathMarch ultra in Sabah, which lasted five days on 2016. This race pushed me to my limits and beyond.
A couple more ultra running here and there before i BODOHLY become a triathlete in 2017 and 2018. Even more suffering!?
Throughout my ultra running journey, I’ve faced many challenges, but nothing compares to the pain in my feet.
Despite trying everything from “functional” sock and anti-blister poweder and cream always ended up with BIG blisters on my feets and dark toenails from all the running.
Perhaps it’s time to reignite my ultra-running journey in 2024 after the Movement Control Order! I be back?!
