I still remember upsetting a senior on my first day as a manager at my old job.
During my time as a manager at that firm, the senior staff, and even the entire senior team, “boycotted” me.
It was tough and stress being a new manager because I was brought in from another company.
No one teach me to be BETTER manager at that time. I used to think being a manager is to produce reports before the deadline. Alamat!
Here are some tips for new young managers after 30 years+ in this industry :
1. Leadership
Being a good leader means guiding and supporting your team.
It is not just about giving orders but helping each team member grow and succeed.
2. Decision Making
Making decisions can be tough, but it is a key part of your job. Gather all the information you can, think about the outcomes, and then choose the best option.
Sometimes you will make mistakes (It is Ok but be accountable to yourself!), but that is how you learn.
3. Learning, Unlearning, and Relearning
Be ready to learn new things and let go of old ideas that do not work anymore.
The world changes fast, and being flexible and open to new ways of doing things will help you keep up.
