I ask my hashtag#ktp team to write down after each training session to help them process and remember what they’ve learned in our social media and their LinkedIn.
This practice was especially relevant yesterday when Bryan Kam and I conducted a training session on Power BI and Pivot Tables.
According to our hashtag#ktp team policy, everyone who attends a training session is required to write a summary.
This is part of our active learning approach which helps ensure that everyone understands the material and can apply it in their work.
The reason I enforce this policy goes beyond just reinforcing learning.
In the past, I’ve had some frustrating experiences during client meetings.
Often, my team members would sit through these meetings like mere observers from the United Nations, not really engaging or capturing the essential discussions.
They would miss crucial issues, leading to poorly written or incomplete minutes of the meeting.
Sometimes, I would have to write the minutes myself to ensure all important points were covered.
Therefore, by asking the team to write detailed reflections and summaries, I aim to cultivate a more engaged and proactive attitude.
This practice not only improves their learning and retention but also prepares them to be more active and effective during important meetings.
I am old school
