TIN under E-Invoice

Hey everyone,

Guess what? The IRB’s TIN isn’t what you might think—it’s not your grandma’s old tin can for cookies or Milo tin can.

Nope, this TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) is all about keeping things tidy and tax-compliant in our e-invoicing world!

Starting 1st August 2024, Malaysia is stepping into a new era with the introduction of e-invoicing, a game-changer for all business transactions!

At the heart of this system is the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), a unique alphanumeric code essential for ensuring tax compliance and streamlining financial operations. It is one of compulsory fields!

Here’s a quick breakdown:
⚙️ Individuals
Your TIN now starts with “IG” followed by 9-11 digits. Remember the days of “OG” and “SG”? Those were retired after January 2, 2023.

⚙️ Businesses & Entities
Your TIN may start with letters like C for companies or CS for cooperatives, followed by a unique number sequence, plus an extra “0” added recently for standardization.

🔍 Finding Your TIN: Check your past tax returns or the tax authority’s portal. Or simply reach out to IRB!
