Two weeks ago, I found myself tumbling 10 feet down a trail in Tiram, landing with a thud that left me with three broken ribs.
The pain was like a jolt of electricity coursing through my body—walking felt like an impossible task for first few days

Sleeping in a bed? Forget it.
For two weeks, I’ve been sleeping in a chair, like enduring a never-ending AirAsia flight.
Recovery?
I refused to touch Panadol—can’t stand the stuff.
Instead, I went full-on natural: calcium, milk, a muscle stimulator, ultrasound therapy (超聲波), some good old-fashioned 艾灸, orang hutan herbs 骨脆补and chanting the Buddha Medicine Mantra (藥師咒),
And guess what? It some how worked! Inshallah.
When I saw the specialist on Sunday, two ribs were fully healed, with one still on the mend.
The best news?
The doctor gave me the green light to start exercising—walking and cycling—immediately. I left the doctor’s room happy like a kid on Christmas.
Cycling is my passion, so I wasted no time and joined a spin class on Friday.
What was supposed to be a relaxing walk with colleagues turned into a sweaty battle with a Level 2 “booster” spin class.
“How hard can it be?” I thought as a seasoned cyclist.
Turns out, very hard. But hey, my back pain is manageable, and I even noticed a firmer butt in the bathroom mirror!
I’m starting to believe that if I keep this up, I might just become a strong contender in road sprinting and mountain climbing.
Jonas Vingegaard second place the Tour de France 2024 after his terrible Itzulia Basque Country crash in early April that left him with a punctured lung and numerous fractured ribs inspired me.
I believe in miracle that happen to eveyone besides Jonas Vingegaard.
To my fellow runners and offroad bikers, I’ll have to miss the LSD 21km and 50km Plentong ride this weekend.
But don’t worry—I’ll be back soon, stronger and ready to roll!
