I’ve got a rule at KTP: I don’t usually interview juniors or interns. Not because I don’t care, but because I trust my team to handle it. They’ve got the experience, the knack for spotting talent.
But recently, I broke that rule. And I broke it for a very good reason.

See, we’re at a crossroads at KTP. The world is moving fast, and digitalization isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a necessity.
Our audit, tax, client management, accounting—all these areas are drowning in spreadsheets, platforms, and outdated processes.
We need an overhaul. We need to digitize. We need to AI.
So, when my HR manager Angela Fong mentioned she was interviewing an IT intern, I thought, “Why not? Let’s see what this young mind can bring to the table.” I hopped into the interview.
We talked. A lot. About our digitalization dreams, the mess of spreadsheets and software and app we call our “system,” and how every department could use a serious tech uplift. I was impressed by the intern’s fresh perspective, the energy, and the sheer enthusiasm. They didn’t see problems; they saw possibilities.
I left that interview with a sense of excitement.
Maybe this is the beginning of a new chapter for KTP. And maybe, just maybe, breaking a rule once in a while isn’t such a bad thing.
