Last Friday, KTP took on a new challenge … pickleball. Honestly, I never thought this day would come.
As a tennis player, pickleball has always felt like that distant relative you see at family gatherings—somewhat familiar, yet strangely out of place.
But since it’s trending and I’m all about keeping my colleagues active with monthly outing/sporting event, I decided to give it a shot.
Little did I expect that nearly 20 of my colleagues would sign up, despite many of them not even knowing what pickleball is.
The first 10 minutes were pure chaos.
No one knew how to hold the racket, let alone hit the ball.
For someone used to tennis, pickleball was embarrassingly easy.
As the ‘coach,’ I did my part—demonstrating the basics and explaining that it’s not tennis, even though the court looks suspiciously smaller.
But watching my colleagues fumble, swing, and miss was priceless.
Soon, the balls were flying everywhere—into nets, onto nearby courts, and sometimes straight into each other.
By the end of the two-hour session, we were sweaty, tired, and hooked.
It wasn’t about winning or perfecting the technique.
It was about trying something new, laughing at our mistakes, and discovering muscles we didn’t know existed.
Would I play pickleball again?
Let’s just say the tennis player in me still has trust issues.
But if laughter and sweat are the measurements of success, KTP’s first pickleball outing was a smash hit!
