I still remember the last time I used Skype.
It was somewhere in the mountains of Nepal, before MCO hit.
WhatsApp didn’t even have voice call back then.
We queued at a teahouse for Wi-Fi just to call home.
And Skype — good ol’ blue Skype — was our lifeline.

Today, it’s officially gone.
Another tech relic…
Fallen to the times.
Skype didn’t fail because it was bad.
It failed because giants came in… and gave things away for free.
WhatsApp added voice.
Zoom took over meetings.
Teams came bundled with Windows.
And just like that… the world moved on.
Same thing happened to Calendly when Google Calendar added scheduling.
Or
DocuSign when Adobe Reader allowed free e-signing.
Innovation didn’t kill them.
Free features from giants did.
This is the scary part about tech.
You can build a great product.
You can even lead the market.
But all it takes is one update from a giant…
And boom — game over.
Skype is now just a memory.
A piece of the past.
A tear of the times.
Cherish your tools while they last.
Because in tech — nothing stays forever.
Bye bye Skype.
