Last week, one client came to me, looking a bit lost.
“Boss, I need to stamp my employment contract. Can I borrow yours? I don’t have one.”
I heard already, a bit emo.

My line is tax. His company is construction. Totally different world.
But I tahan… smiled and replied politely.
Why nowadays so many people treat their accountant like one-man show?
Write tenancy agreement, draft employment contract, prepare employee handbook…
Some even ask us to teach HR and labour law!
Eh, don’t get me wrong.
Accountants are solid.
But our superpower is in accounts and tax, not HR or legal.
You ask accountant to handle labour law issue,
same like asking your Grab driver to fly to KLIA.
Yes, both can drive
but can take off or not,
that’s another story.
Most accountants only study basic company and contract law in uni or ACCA.
Doesn’t mean they’re ready to fight your HR tribunal case.
Here’s what I always tell my SME clients :
Don’t save small money now,
only to pay big later when things go wrong.
That one is called expensive savings.
Want to protect your company?
Very simple:
HR, find HR people.
Legal, find legal people.
Tax, come find tax agent.
Right job, right person.
