In the 90s, life was simple but tough.
I was a kampung kid with no money for overseas university.

My career choices? Only two: LLB (Law) or ACCA (Accounting). Affordable, recognized, and practical.
I pictured my life as a lawyer first.
Blame TVB courtroom dramas and Hollywood movies.
Lawyers looked heroic, smart, and untouchable. They could bend arguments, twist logic, and even “defy karma” to win.
Exciting? Yes.
Comfortable for my conscience? No.
The thought of defending someone I didn’t believe in… that would haunt me.
Then there was ACCA.
No drama. No courtroom.
Just spreadsheets, calculators, and numbers that never lie.
But that was the point.
As an accountant, I can :
Choose my clients.
Walk away from those who don’t deserve my signature.
Work with a clear conscience and zero karma debt.
Today, I’m glad I chose ACCA over LLB.
I don’t get to shout “Objection!” in a courtroom.
I may not have a courtroom (except the Special Commissioner) to conquer.
Sometimes, the boring road is the one that keeps my karma clean.
