“Boss… are we really starting an AI project on March when we are in peak?”
That was the first question my team asked when I annouced before CNY on this AI project.

Honestly…
Last night I asked myself the same question.
Today is the first day of our AI automation project with Wei Khjan Chan, our AI consultant.
And to be frank…
I was a bit worried.
First problem.
We are in peak period.
Files everywhere.
Deadlines everywhere.
Clients everywhere.
Second problem.
AI automation is still new to most of us.
When I read the training agenda last night…
I realised something uncomfortable.
About half of it I don’t really understand.
Third problem.
But my biggest worry was not the AI tools.
It was human nature.
People naturally prefer what is familiar.
Learning new things means leaving the comfort zone.
And comfort zones are very comfortable.
Then there were other worries quietly sitting in my mind.
What if the team becomes more confused instead of more productive?
What if we invest time but the tools don’t work in our environment?
What if the team feels overwhelmed during peak season?
For a moment…
I wondered if we should postpone the whole thing.
But then I remembered something.
In KTP…
There is never a perfect time.
Before Chinese New Year I already told the team we would start this project.
And that time Claude rolled out many new capabilities.
If we keep waiting for the right time…we may end up waiting forever.
So this morning before the training started, I told the team something simple.
“It is tough to start a special project during peak season.
But honestly… people always say there is no off-peak in KTP anyway.
So let’s just start.” #MakeItHappen
Then something interesting happened.
Wei Khjan Chan did very little talking.
Less than 20% theory.
Instead he said:
“Open your laptop.”
The rest of the session we were doing things ourselves.
Install.
Test.
Break things.
Fix things.
Slowly we began to understand how AI agents might help in audit, tax and administration.
Not perfect. But real learning.
For SMP firm like ours, digital transformation rarely starts with a perfect plan.
It usually starts with one uncomfortable step.
Today was that step.
Technology will not wait for accountants.
Sometimes the strategy is simple.
Start first.
Figure it out later.
Wish us all the best.
