Today, I did something unprecedented. I willingly parted with S$90 (approximately RM300) to attend a Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP) webinar on Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
This is my first time paying in SGD for a tax webinar.

While S$90 might be “immaterial” to some, when you convert it with our beloved exchange rate (times 3.3), the pain is real.
So, why did I attend?
Simple …. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Everywhere I turn, people are talking about JS-SEZ like it’s the next big thing.
No seminar, no discussion, nothing. Meanwhile, across the Causeway, Singaporean tax professionals are dissecting JS-SEZ like it’s a billion-dollar M&A deal.
I couldn’t help but wonder—what do they know that we don’t?
For 90 minutes, I listened as Singaporean and Malaysian experts shared insights, tax incentive, transfer pricing, strategies, and—let’s be honest—probably their game plan for maximizing benefits from JS-SEZ.
So here I am, S$90 poorer but slightly wiser.
