Most audit firms talk about training.
Few actually do it.
Not just CPD points.
Not just another year-end seminar.
And definitely not another “Tax Budget Update 2025” slideshow.

I’m talking about consistent, practical upskilling …
the kind that helps our team make stronger judgments and serve clients more proactively.
Because let’s face it! The pace of change in audit standards, data analytics, AI, and risk modelling is relentless.
Today’s audit teams are juggling everything —
from substantive testing, internal controls, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance,
to IT audit, ESG, and sometimes even tax.
Many are under-resourced.
Many are exhausted.
Everyone knows education matters but very few firms actually build it into their routine.
That’s why last week, our HR manager Angela quietly reminded us what real education looks like.
She had attended two webinars on Stamp Duty updates.
Instead of keeping the insights to herself,
she turned them into a mini training session.
Complete with presentation slides, attendance list, and even a short quiz.
No fancy trainer.
No big budget.
Just initiative, ownership, and a genuine learning spirit.
For a small SMP like ours, this is what professional development should look like
Simple.
Sustainable.
Effective.
Because sometimes,
it only takes one HR manager…
and one quiet Stamp Duty update…
to reignite the culture of learning in an entire firm.
Thank you, Angela Fong
