LLP boss happily tells his account girl.
“Income Tax submitted already. Finally can sleep peacefully!”

Account girl replies.
“Boss, still got MITRS.”

“What is MITRS?”

“Now LHDN also wants to see your P&L, Balance Sheet, Tax Computation and Capital Allowance Schedule.”

Boss gets a shock.
“WHAT? Last time only check my answer.
Now even my workings must submit also?” 😂

Welcome to MITRS!
Malaysian Income Tax Reporting System.

Starting from YA 2025,
LLPs must submit specified tax documents to LHDN through MITRS.

Boss asks.
“My friend also runs a Partnership. Why he doesn’t need to submit?”

Account girl explains.
“Boss, LLP and ordinary Partnership are different.”

LLP (Form PT): MITRS already applies.
Conventional Partnership (Form P): Not yet required under the published YA 2026 filing programme.

Boss shakes his head.
“Wah! Both also called Partnership.
One must submit workings, the other one no need!” 😂

But the real headache is just beginning.

Account girl asks.
“Boss, your Fixed Asset Register updated already?”

“Er… should have lah.”

“Partner Drawings properly separated?”

“Er… maybe.”

“Any Personal Expenses mixed into Company Expenses?”

Boss suddenly goes quiet. 😂

Account girl continues.
“Your Accounts must reconcile with your Tax Computation.”

Boss starts getting nervous.
“Last time you never asked me so many questions!”

“Boss, last time LHDN didn’t require us to upload all these documents lah!”

That’s the biggest difference.

Previously, submit Tax Return.

Financial Statements?
Keep in the office.

Tax Computation?
Keep in the file.

Now?
LHDN wants to see the Supporting Documents.

Last time, teacher only checked your answer.
Now, teacher wants to see how you got the answer!

And don’t think just because your LLP doesn’t do Audit, nobody will check.

Many LLPs are not required to undergo a Statutory Audit.

But!

Unaudited doesn’t mean Unchecked forever!

Your Accounts must still make sense.
Your numbers must still tally.

Especially now that LHDN can compare your Financial Statements, Tax Computation and Capital Allowance Claims.

Seriously.

MITRS doesn’t mean you suddenly have to pay more Income Tax.

It means LHDN can more easily check how you arrived at the figures in your Tax Return.

And now, with e-Invoicing coming into the picture.

If your Accounts have problems,
your numbers don’t tally,
explaining the differences to LHDN won’t be so easy anymore!
