When I first bought my current off-road motorbike, the seller casually told me, “This bike is all the exercise you’ll ever need.”
I laughed it off. How hard can it be? Just twist the throttle and let the engine do the work, right?
Well, today, after 25 km of trails, a half-submerged bike, and enough “deadlifts” to rival a gym workout,
I can confirm—it’s a full-body workout.
It started off innocent enough. I was the lone ranger (yes alone in the wood) exploring Plentong’s backyard trails—oil palm plantations, rubber tree farms, rivers—you name it.
The views were beautiful, but don’t let Instagram or Tiktok influencers fool you.
These trails have a dark side, especially during monsoon season. Mud, rocks, and hidden vines were just the warm-up.
The rubber tree plantation looked harmless at first—shady, quiet, and lined with tall trees. But don’t be fooled.
The paths are ridiculously narrow, barely enough for my bike to squeeze through without scratching the bodywork.
One wrong turn and I’d be stuck between trees, testing my flexibility just to duck under vines.
First, a snake crossed my path. Poisonous or not? I didn’t stop to ask.
Next, I misjudged a river crossing. My rear tire sank into soft sand, turning my 118kg bike into a buried treasure.
It took me 20 minutes of wrestling, twisting, and pushing before the bike decided to fall into the river for good measure.
Cue the “deadlift series.” I had to hoist the bike up three times, each attempt draining more energy.
And just when I thought I was done, the muddy slope came next.
My clutch—already worn out—refused to cooperate. Another 20 minutes stuck, two more deadlifts, and I was ready to trade my bike for a kayak.
Exhaustion hit hard. My legs cramped, my arms shook, and my brain felt like jelly.
I misjudged a slope, hit another fallen tree, and—you guessed it—more deadlifts.
By the time I reached the the mainroad, I was so tired I dropped my bike again while checking Google Maps.
Two hours, 30 minutes, 25 km, and at least 10 deadlifts to count.
When I finally reached the motorbike service center, my suspicions were confirmed—my clutch had given up.
But guess what? So have my legs and lung.
Off-road motorbiking isn’t just a ride. It’s cardio, strength training, and mental game—all rolled into one.
And despite the pain, the sweat, and the 10 deadlifts, I’m hooked. Call me crazy, but I can’t wait to do it all over again.
But i promise to deadlift 100kg in gym to build my lower body strength. #kawasakiklx150 #plentong #offroadbike
