Let me tell you what happened last weekend.

For weeks now my AI Transformation team and I have been stuck on our AI transformation project.

The ideas part is easy.
The execution part is where we keep banging wall.

Hardware setup that I dont fully understands.
Security questions that nobody can answer with confidence.
And scale up deployment is the one that keeps me awake.

We build something nice then when want to push it out for real use, suddenly evereverything also got problem.

So I did what any boss would do.

I outsource the pain. I signed up two of my colleagues for Ts. Dr. Chan Ler-Kuan physical training, a half day workshop called “Tech Decoded: A Strategic Workshop for Non-Tech Leaders”.

Five hours. Hardware, agentic AI, cybersecurity, deployment.

The exact three things that have been giving us headache.

Perfect. Send the two of them go learn, come back teach me. Boss strategy, right.

Then the same week, my rider gang messaged. Off road motorbike trip. Two day one night camping in Kota Tinggi.

Bring the bike, sleep under the stars, mud, fire, the whole thing. This is my dream adventure.

I said yes immediately. Block the calendar. Already dreaming about it.

Then I opened the workshop agenda properly.

The Modern Tech Stack Decoded. VS Code, GitHub, version control, why nothing gets lost. Agentic AI and Harness Engineering, the jump from chatbot to AI agent that actually makes decisions. n8n and Flowise live demo, which is literally what we are trying to run on our own Mac Minis right now. CI/CD and GitHub Actions, “how do I know a release is safe”.

Cybersecurity for leaders, zero trust, the threat landscape, the ten questions every leader should ask the IT team.

I sat there reading and one thing became very clear. This is not a workshop I send my colleagues to attend on my behalf. This is the workshop I need to sit through myself.

Every single module was a problem I am personally carrying. The hardware confusion, the security blind spot, the deployment nightmare.

All of it. On one agenda. In five hours. So I made the call.

I cancelled the off road trip. I messaged the rider gang and apologised. Sorry brothers, cannot make it this round, work cannot wait. Anyone who rides knows how much that hurts. A camping trip in Kota Tinggi does not come often.

Then I signed up for Dr Chan class. Not for my colleagues. For me. Same night, immediately, before I could change my mind.

Five hours later I walked out a different person. Not because I suddenly became a developer. I am still an audit and tax guy, that will never change. But I finally understood the questions I was supposed to be asking.

Here is the funny part. I walked in hoping to leave with answers. I walked out with more work to do. A clearer head, yes.
