Two week ago, one of my best staff sat across from me for her exit interview.
She is leaving for Singapore.
And you know what?
I cannot stop her.
I should not even try.

Pei Jun joined us almost two years ago. Came in as an intern. Quiet. Still learning how to tie a set of working papers together properly.
By the time she walked out, she was running complex tax portfolios on her own.
Leading client meetings.
Sitting in front of directors and answering questions like a seasoned associate.
She even rolled up her sleeves for our AI transformation project. Helped automate our audit and tax workflows.
Made the whole team faster. That is not just a staff doing a job, that is someone who took ownership.
Here in JB, every boss in audit and tax knows this exact feeling.
You hire them young.
You train them.
You watch them grow into someone good.
And one day, Singapore calls.
One SGD is around three point two ringgit. How to fight that maths?
I am also not blind. The number is the number.
So a JB boss like me only has two choices.
I can be bitter, or
I can bless.
I choose to bless.
Because I remember
The team dance performance she joined.
The indoor spinning rides.
The annual dinner celebration.
The long audit days and the difficult clients she never complained about.
Two years of real service. That, you cannot fake.
So no, there is nothing a JB boss can do to stop a good staff from crossing the causeway.
And honestly? I should not want to.
If I raised them well, my job was never to keep them small enough to stay.
My job was to make them good enough to leave, and good enough to be welcomed anywhere.
Pei Jun, thank you for everything you gave KTP. Go and shine, with my full blessing in next career choice in Singapore.
